Our Lab has gone green! We're making real and impactful changes to decrease the environmental footprint of our
research by joining the #MyGreenLabCertification Program run by non profit @My Green Lab and supported by the #McGillSPF.
After a thorough online assessment of our lab practices, equipment, waste, and procurement, we were awarded the highest level 'Green' certificate! Considering discovering Slavic languages and cultural connections, I keep coming back to the difference between knowing about an idea and putting it into practice. Comparing familiar-looking words can reveal both connections and differences between languages. For me, that is a useful way into the broader subject of Slavic language learning. I would be interested in a simple example, because it is often the ordinary details that make an idea memorable. How would you help learners avoid assuming that similar words always mean the same thing?

Thinking about connecting practical school skills with future choices, I find the smaller practical questions more interesting than a quick conclusion. Trying a task can help a student notice whether an area of study suits their interests. It gives me a more concrete starting point for thinking about practical school skills. I am more curious about the process than a polished result, because the steps in between are usually where questions appear. What kinds of activities help students explore possibilities before making a decision?
What interests me about exploring local heritage in Ostrorog is how a broad idea becomes part of an ordinary day. A community's history can become easier to picture through ordinary objects and places. I would use that point as a starting question when considering Ostrorog heritage education. I am still thinking through the details, and a small example would help me picture how this works in practice. How could students present local heritage in a way that welcomes further questions?
A conversation about using local observation in Olszanka school projects seems most useful to me when it leaves space for uncertainty and further questions. Careful notes about a familiar place can become the basis for a more detailed investigation. It makes me curious about the practical side of Olszanka school projects. I can imagine different answers depending on the situation, so I would want to understand the context before drawing conclusions. What would you ask pupils to record before they discuss their observations?
